Yea, I'd agree with Hostas and Hydrangeas. If you start ammending the soil by adding composted manure and other organic fertilizers you'd be able to grow a much wider variety of plants. The moss indicates poor drainage so you'll want to mix in whatever type of fertilizer you get.
