Are you getting a car at 16? if so buy a good brand but low cost. If you think you are going to be riding afterwards for fun, buy a better bike. Buy a bigger size than you need now. That way you can grow in to it. For now, just lower the seat. I bought my daughter a schwin when she was 13. Bigger size and she still rides it for fun. She is 16 now. So I got my moneys' worth.
