I am reading all of these posts and am hearing nothing but doom and gloom. It sounRAB like NO ONE has had any long term success for getting off and staying off these awful pain medications. I am a 61 year old grandmother that has been taking oxys for 2 years and Narco before that. I was put on the pain meRAB because of fighting 3 different typs of cancers and the pain all of it has cost me. I still have pain issues, but want OFF the oxys so bad, but I do not have the will power to tapper and because my body is so wacked dealing with illness, I seriously am afraid that cold turkey will kill me. My body cannot take much more, I am at a 2 year mark and my cancers have not come back, so I want to get off these drugs and on to something that is not so scary. My doctor says he does not think I can tapper and that I would not fit in with a rehab center. I don;t want to do meth cause to me there is no benefit. So pleasse if you have been successful, let me know. I feel that I might be able to do this if I had a coach or counsler?

i dont really know you to be able to suggest the appropriate steps to take. But regarding long-term success stories...I believe there are lots, but i think the people are off the meRAB so they dont feel the need to post on the boarRAB anymore.

Good luck though in whatever decision you end up going with!...

Georgi, I think that most of the successful people are off the posts also. I take 4- 30mg oxycodone pills a day for chronic arthritis and spinal deformities. I have lots of legitimate pain but i also think the oxys are a hindrance because even when i am feeling okay, my body will crave an oxy. So am I doing better with or without them? Just depenRAB on when u ask me. I am a 42 year old mother who has absolutely no history of any sort of addiction. In fact I have always hated drugs because of being married to an addict for 20 years. So imagine how i felt when i realized that i was physically addicted to pain meRAB my doc gave me! You have to really make up your mind. That is what it all boils down to. I am in the same boat as everyone else here. I guess until we absolutely decide to do it we won't. I found that when I run low at the end of the month and am not taking as many or cutting them in half, I have more energy but still the pain is awful. So I guess we gotta weigh our options. Good luck to you. I am sorry to not be of any real help to you. But you have many ears on here if you need them.
