okay, so...here's my dilemma:
i have a history of mental health problems (yes, i know that's disqualifying)...i didn't tell them that at MEPS, and they let me enlist. well, there i was in week 8 of basic training and the people who i guess were doing my security clearance found my records from a military hospital of me seeing a psychiatrist for bipolar disorder. so i was discharged, chapter 5-11, EPTS. uncharacterized discharge, reentry code 3. i went to CMHS before i was discharged and the doctor there told me that she thought i was fit for service and she didnt really see anything wrong with me, and that she'd keep me if she could...but having it on your records disqualifies you, and she had to recommend me for separation anyways.
so there's the background. now here is my question: is it possible that i could see a psychiatrist, and if that psychiatrist decided that i was misdiagnosed, could that illness be taken off of my medical record? and if it can, is there any way i can join once it's gone even though i have been discharged before?
i really feel like i was misdiagnosed, and i think there's a good chance a doctor would agree. so if this diagnosis is removed, would it come completely off my record, no trace whatsoever? and if it would, could i join then?
i really want to join the service...originally i was more interested in army, but if the air force will take me and the army won't, i'm good with that. i was doing really well in basic training, and having a lot of fun. i just want to know if there is ANYTHING i can do.
thanks in advance :]
