Any recommendations for Med School application?

To give you a brief run-down of my credentials. I will graduate with my Bachelor's in Marketing with a 3.3 Cum. GPA (It is low, I know. I had some personal setbacks in school.) I haven't taken my MCAT yet, as I will spend 2 to 3 additional semesters taking the pre-req science courses for med school. I will have 2 to 3 years of volunteering hours at a hospital here.

I wanted to know if there is anything else that I can do to help beef up my application since I have a lower-than-average cummulative GPA, as well as the best study resources for the MCAT?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You need to have a backup plan, in case you don't get into med school. That 3.3 is low for med school.

Is there a story behind the 3.3 that might help you? Maybe your GPA started low and got higher, or your GPA in one specific term was very low, and the rest were far stronger, etc? That may help.

You need to absolutely ace the med school pre-req classes you'll be taking next. I want your GPA in those classes to be as much above a 3.6 as you can possibly get it. If that means you drop activities so you can focus, you do that. If that means you hire a tutor, you do that. If that means you take only 4 classes per term instead of 5, then so be it.
