any reason a petcock repair kit for a suzuki gsf600 wouldnt stop the thing from...

...leaking? any extra instruction? just got the thing and the only problem is that the petcock leaks, just a slow drip, but it becomes a problem when its sitting for a couple hours. Ive been clamping the gas line shut whenever its not running so I could ride it till the repair kit came. It finally came today and I put it in and the same thing happens, slow drip. Im pretty confident I installed it correctly and I cant figure out what the problem is.. do you have to prep the gaskets or anything before? And if I have to get a new one do you know where I could find a cheap one? maybe one off another model will fit? thank you for any help you can give me..

yep, the petcock is worn out. A repair kit won't help it. You try the repair kit first because it's a cheaper fix but if it doesnt work you need to replace it.
