Waldo," in old photos? I just watched the Weather Underground documentary and suddenly.....THERES WALDO!!!! If you look at old photos of important events and scandals Gerald Ford was always lurking around. As his career progressed he moved toward the center of the photo. He obviously had a lot of influence though some say he was some kind of dummy. I don't know.

Ford was a member of the Warren Commission. I think they wanted to keep a real close eye on him, so they kept him around for 'security' purposes.

<sarcasm on> I loved his WIN campaign - Whip Inflation Now - with the buttons and all.

There is a famous book title that applied to Gerald Ford;
'The Available Man.' Quite smiply Gerald Ford was one of those inoffensive types who might not ignite a fire but could be relied upon to keep the flames burning modrately efficiently. Ford was much like the man invited to lots of parties & events - - - he wasn't 'lurking' around, simply on the scene patiently biding his time and at the time of Watergate Gerald Ford was the man no one could object to thus he became President by default (no fault of his own). Dull & Plodding not quite a dummy, a 25 watt bulb works as well as a 100 watt bulb. Oddly enough, despite 'jack bashing,' one has to be smart to excel at football and as a youth Gerald Ford was a college football star that goes a long way to explain his elegibilty for the Presidency.
