Any other white girls have patches of kinky, coarse, "Afro-American" hair?

This is gonna sound strange, but I just recently discovered that I have a (very) small patch of hair behind each of my ears where the hair grows differently than anywhere else. 99.5% of my hair is straight and fine, and very thick (total volume, not strands). But in these small patches, my hair is extremely coarse and thicker in the strand, kinky/twisted/curly (think African-American hair), and has many splits along the shaft. When I discovered I had just two small patches that looked like that, I was like, WTF? It is on the underside of my hair and gets hidden by the overwhelming majority of my "normal/white" hair, so I'm not concerned about it appeared strange; it just confused me and I'm wondering if any other Caucasian girls have something similar.

Additional info: The rest of my hair is very healthy and soft, so I don't think its the result of damage from products or styling. And I really don't think I could have African ancestry somewhere way back, because I am as pale white as they come (always the lightest color in makeup), have blue eyes, and light brownish-blonde fine hair. Is this just some weird genetic quirk?
