any other fans of "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" or "Dirk Gently" here?

Yes to both. I thought that 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' was one of the funniest and cleverest books I have ever read. What a pity that Douglas Adams is not still with us.

Yes huge fan of Hitchhiker. I always think it's a shame when books are turned into visual media because when you read a book your own imagination gives form to the characters; unfortunately in my case this rarely coincides with the film-makers interpretation! Which spoils the books a bit for me. (The exception to this being 2001 - A Space Odyssey, for which the film was stunning.)

Yep, Dirk Gently is the best. :)

Haven't seen the new movie either, but I recall the BBC mini-series as being a bit dreary. I got to watch it on video from the library.

Dr. Who is cool too, Or had been until they came out with Eccleson, Tenant and Piper. You know Douglass Adams wrote some Dr. Who episodes too?

Yes :)

I think you may get more answers relating to 42 than fans of the god of refrigerators, though.

EDIT

Or not. Go internet!
