Any Other Christopher Walken Fans Out There?

I have been a massive fan of Christopher Walken since I was 14. (I am now 41!) No one has ever come close. I don't know what it is about him (well I do, but this is a family forum) but I love the roles he plays and I think he has an amazing capacity to spellbind and hypnotise.

I was surprised and delighted that he came 14th in the World's Best Actors list, voted for by his fellow actors. He keeps himself to himself and shuns the Hollywood lifestyle so I imagine that his enigmatic nature has won him respect from his fellow actors.

I saw him on Saturday Zoo with Jonathan Ross several years ago - I still have it on tape - where he improvised the story of the Three Little Pigs and he was so funny.

It's his birthday on 31 March and I can't believe he's going to be 63. He showed in Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice video that he has the body of a 30-year-old.

The Dead Zone is my favourite film. He was in his forties then and he looked about 23!

Anyone else see what I see?

Not in the same way but yes, I like him. I thought he was magnificent in The Deer Hunter, one of my all-time favourite films. I liked The Dead Zone too, and the Fat Boy Slim video might well be my favourite music video ever.

oh my god i had forgotten about the Saturday Zoo appearance!! that was absolulty hillarious!!!

hes is a brilliant actor and love what he does and i was very amased when i saw him in fat boy slims vid, got the enhance vid so am happy there i didnt know he could dance he was brilliant!!! :D

You should watch him in King of New York - it's possibly one of his best performances ever, and he dances!

I also love him in At Close Range with Sean Penn (another favourite actor of mine). He just has such immense charisma.

He can even brighten up an otherwise awkward film like Envy, where his presence changes the calibre of the whole film.

I totally agree with the OP, I love Christopher Walken!

I was delighted to see him high up on the Best Actors list because he's got a great talent.

One thing I really like about him is that he's not a Hollywood showbizzy type, he's quite a private man and just gets on with the job of turning out great performances.

He's not afraid to have a laugh, either (like his character on SNL)

Actually, that Best Actor list was very good, compiled as it was from other actors and not from the public. I was surprised to see Ed Norton so high on the list, although he is a very good actor. It was also good to see lesser-known actors like Gena RowlanRAB and good recognition for Sean Penn who is a superb actor who only sems to be remembered by most people for punching paparazzi.

I think it says a lot about the way he conducts himself that he has been married to the same woman for 37 years. They have no kiRAB, just cats, and they live on a big ranch in the middle of nowhere.

Two films other than The Dead Zone which stand out for me are Biloxi Blues and Sarah, Plain and Tall.

Biloxi Blues also stars Matthew Broderick and is based on the play by Neil Simon. Walken is great as the mad sergeant and the script is excellent.

In Sarah, Plain and Tall with Glenn Close we get to see the other side of him. He plays a widower with two children and he's completely normal! No psychotic tendencies at all!

Nope not a big fan. He hasn't captured my attention like other actors/actresses have in recent times. Although I seem to remember liking him in Batman Returns. In fact that's the only movie I remember him in, apart from Catch me if you Can.

Plus he was in Gigli and Domino  (Gigli, serious discredit to any actors reputation!).

He puts his trousers on one leg at a time like everyone else. Except once he's got them on, he makes hit films.

God I love Walken

Yep, agree with the general consenus. A great actor and someone who manages to retain a great air of mystery by not soliciting himself to the media.

I remember a picture in Vanity Fair (the Hollywood issue) of Christopher and Dennis Hopper. Both sitting in a room... you know, I can't remember if they were naked! The picture was labelled something like "Mavericks" or "Wild carRAB" Sorry can't remember.... :(
Just that the were both sitting in arm chairs and starring at the camera.

It was definitely cool though!

My husband thinks he's weird and can only play one type of character. I can see where he's coming from but I think he personifies that type of character and no one else is half as good in the same vein
