looking into buying one, im pretty automotive savvy, but this one is way before my time.

i just need to know if they are reliable and easy to fix and if they handle well.

If you are going for a challenge with a possibility of payback in the distant future, go for the Reatta convertible. I believe it was made for the last two years of production.

Everyone poops on these cars, but they were built in relative low volume, with a lot of shared mechanicals form the Fiero, as well as other bits and pieces from the Buick parts bin. So there is some limited support out there.

Trust me, when I tell you that owning a limited production low volume car, you are in for challenges. So prepare to have your wallet ready when unique things are needed. Avail yourself of Ebay and other resources to find parts for your car even if you don't need them. I have a 1962 Chrysler Imperial show car, and I can tell you that it is just good insurance to do this. Otherwise you will spend weeks looking for certain parts.

At least if you get the convertible, you have something that is more rare, and will have a lot of appeal. Always aim for the rare group in the population when looking at an unusual or limited car. It will guarantee your investment.

These cars came with a computerized console that consisted of a touch sensitive CRT display. It controls the radio, heating, cooling, and it had some other features. From what I have read, this computer is pretty robust. However, make sure you educate yourself on it and other unique parts of this car. The other cars to share some of these high tech goodies were the Riviera and the Toronado Trofeo of the same vintage.

Knowledge is your best weapon when dealing with anything that is not well represented in the car community. And passion is your best weapon against negative nancies - like the folks in this post telling you to give up on your dream, and settle for what everyone else drives. How damned boring is that!
