Any info on a 1982 SUZUKI GS 550L?

Ok, for the last week, i have been looking for a nice starter bike, and i have come across 82 SUZUKI GS 550L, with 19,000 miles, they are asking 1,500 for it, it looks good, and they say it runs good, I'm thinking this might be a good starter bike for me. Does anyone have any on hand info about this bike, or know anyone that has had or owned one like this, and if they are pretty reliable bike. and what the retail of the bike is worth?
The price is 1,500 after taxes, since it's through a dealser car lot. The seller did menttion that it needed a Choke cable.
 
It's a good bike if it runs good. $1500 is bit high but the milage is pretty low. Check for oil leaks especailly in the forks and look at anything rubber as it maybe shot after all this time. I did not own this bike but I did own the GS 650E and it's a fine machine
