I need help with my business plan, its for school, we have to design our own business and stuff, but i really have no idea what type of business i want to do and my teacher would be asking us what we're doing on Monday. Any ideas?

Thanks (:

I had the same assignment around 4 weeks back (: We sold gift boxes and got a profit of around $50. Well other businesses that were successful were fruit smoothies and popcorn since our canteen was so expensive. But yeah, try to sell something while having in mind what the students at your school really want.

okay i had to do this in college. what would you like to do? or better yet what type of business would you like to see in your area? what type of people are in your area - mostly kids, seniors, etc; thats who you want to try to appeal to.
example - i live in an area that is mixed - seniors, kids, and working adults. it is mostly apartment complexes, family homes, and a senior community in my area. i would think about doing a laundromat with a cafe combined. laundromat up front and cafe in the back. there is only 1 laundromat in my area and it stays crowded 24/7. the laundromat i would have open 24/7 but the cafe area would have designated hours maybe like 8am - 8pm. but this way people could relax and grab a bite to eat while washing their clothes.
whats needed in your area?
smoothie shop ( since this is the "in" thing)
cleaning services
services for elderly
landscaping services

Good answers so far. When I went into Real estate I was taught start with the end goal in mind. It helps to let you know if the business will really work for you. How much do you want to make and over what period of time?

If I want to make 50K/year then divide by 12 to get to a per month number that's just over 4K income per month. Now realize that you HAVE TO make that number or everything changes. So how to make the number?

In Real estate I have to either meet a certain number of people who might want to buy or sell.
Where do I meet them?
OR make a certain number of calls
Where do I get the numbers to call and there is a do not call list so you have to screen the numbers or pay to have them screened. See there is always more to the story.

Figure your time/hour. Cost of transportation/ packaging/ ingredients/insurance. electricity or phones. there is a lot to consider.
So jump start you brain and be prepared to make some changes as you go. Talking to parents on this is very helpful and there is really too much to tell it all here. Get the SBA form to get a head start. Good luck.
