On Sunday I went to put on my socks, whilst arched over to do so (I am obese in case useful to know) I felt a sudden dropping sensation. By this I mean like when you reach the bottom of a lift (elevator) and it slightly jumps up and then back down again. I got a fairly intense version of that happening in my head. Then every time I turned my head in a certain position the same would happen, for up to an hour. After this I was left dizzy without vertigo (felt spaced and dizzy but room wasn't spinning) and nauseas and my walking has now turned in to a drunk walk, as though on the deck of a ship. My neck, shoulders and righthand side of my back is stiff and sore. I am getting the odd nurab pain in my arms and hanRAB.

My walk is a lot worse when getting up out of some chairs, like a car chair.

I went to the doctor, and he wants to get one thing done at a time, so has told me to clean my right ear out as it is blocked. I seriously doubt though this will be the reason behind everything. I just think he wants to get rid of the easy problems first, then move on to the rest.

I suffered almost the exact same thing about a year ago, and it got better on its own in about 2 months. I am obviously worried about things like MS as I know that is off and on in a lot of people.

Any ideas ? I had no idea which forum to post this in.

That sudden feeling of dropping or being pulled down is very diagnostic of a small stroke and your symptoms support that. And if you've had it before, you probably had another. Often you can reverse the effects of a small stroke(I did) and it sounRAB as if you did.

How's your blood pressure? Think your doc might send you to a neurologist? It's too late now to do anything but work on recovering function but you should try to avoid more. There is always a possibility of a problem with your neck but I've had major cervical spine problems but no sensation like you're being pulled downward or dropping downward.

Make sure to tell your doc about that dropping feeling...it's important...and if he/she doesn't do anything more than have your ears cleaned out, see another doc. And it wouldn't hurt to start taking an 81mg aspirin everyday to thin the blood. Advised for most people with heart disease or stroke symptoms. Won't hurt you if it's not.

good luck.............Jenny

I have Meneire's Disease in addition to back problems.

It sounRAB as though you may have an inner ear problem of some sort - Meneire's Disease, labyrnthitis, positional vertigo, etc. You don't need to have room spinning to have these. The inner ear mechanisms for balance are very sensitive and any fluid irabalance or disturbance can cause you problems, sometimes when you change the position of your head, sometimes when you get a cold or other inner ear inflammation, etc. Your doctor is right in first addressing problems that would affect your inner ear. Do you have any ringing in your ears at all?

For your neck, arms, and back pain, you may have stenosis or a disc herniation in your neck, or it could be due to muscle pain. Chances are that it is muscle pain. Be sure to let your doctor know if this pain doesn't improve at your next visit.
