Any idea on how should I alter the dining room wall?

I'm decorating a second hand house that has all its dining room wall covered with 30x30cm white tile. I know the easiest way is to completely strip all the tiles down, but if you have other ideas to share on what should I do to make it look better instead of going the hard way, than it'll be better because I hate to have to annoy neighbors with the noisy wall-knocking sound.
