Hi there,

I guess there are a lot of us floating around on the board looking for answers. I have suffered from anxiety for about 2 years now. I just wanted to talk to a few people about my main symptoms as they now stand and see if anyone can offer any advice on them. I also want to make sure these are symptoms of anxiety aswell :P
  • I suffer from very small panic attacks most of the time. My panic attacks seem to represent themselves as head rushes and hot flushes of panic. They stay just about managable so that I can tell myself and reslove them without anyone really noticing. I have now reached a point where I am able to hide these from people fairly well. I do however seem to suffer from these on and off for about six hours of the day.
  • I feel like I am becoming stupid. This worries me a lot. I have a lot of trouble thinking of the right word, concentrating, easily forget what I am doing. This goes beyond feeling a bit sluggish or a bit slow to actively feeling like my cognitive skills are declining!
  • I constantly fear a brain aneurysm, or a tumor, or a stroke. Any time i hear a bang or someone clapping I think its in my head. Every time I get a headache I think its a tumor. Any chest pains I think is my heart.
  • I am at my wits end of feeling like this. Im not looking for a miracle cure. Just someone in the medical proffession who will sympathise, know what I am going through, and be able to assist. Does anyone know what this type of quack is called? :)

Look forward to speaking to some of you soon.

Stay healthy and safe!!

Tom

Don't have much time to write my friend.

I know this will be a simplistic answer, but it happens to be your likely reality and that it is that all your symptoms are "very typical" anxiety symptoms.

And yes I can relate and sympathize with everything you ar

e going through. I know its tough and exhausting battling these demons all day and everyday..

I will try and elaborate more later.

Have a great day or rather evening.

Definetly anxiety related...but also sounRAB like it is mixed with a touch of depression. The depression may have been brought on by the anxiety...so I think that the panic attacks, brought on the other symptoms of feeling stupid, being unable to concentrate etc. I think you need a Dr. and a depression medication with anxiety benefits. They do have them..and they do work...drugs like Celexa....that is a good one that is quick acting and addresses both anxiety and depression.

Hi Timmothy: I am new today but with your question of what kind of a doctor to see - I saw a nuerologist and had good results. You can get in bad trouble trying to medicate yourself without first getting a professional opinion.
I had similar symptoms and was given a couple different meRAB to try and one has worked great. I only take it when I feel the anxiety coming on. . . .and the times are getting further and further apart.
My anxiety comes a lot from being alone and not having much human contact and no one to 'share' with. Maybe try t yalk to people about your problem and it will surely ease up. good luck. . .hope to see you in here again. GrannyPat
