This week for social studies I have to write a haiku. I am not a poetry writer myself, but I am looking for those skilled poetry writers out there. Preferably someone who can make up a well-done haiku in seconds. We are learning about Japanese culture and apparently their haiku's are mostly about nature and beauty. I was wondering if someone could give me tips on how to write one.
I am not looking for someone to write it for me; but someone who could just give me tips. I know that their are 17 syllables in haiku's and line 1 is 5 syllables...line 2 is 7 syllables...and line 3 is 5 syllables. Am i correct? I just need some tips on how to write one. I really want to impress my social studies teacher. (by the way, he will know if I copy one.)
Thanks in advance!!!
I wrote a few. I asked my mom which one she liked the best. It turns out it was the very first one I wrote. Here it is:
The leaf detaches
Away from the tree it goes
It flies in the wind.
How do you like it??? Criticism is allowed!
Thanks!
