I've been considering a motorcycle for a long time. Since I'm a big guy (6' 5" 290 lbs), I'm considering a high-sitting bike... a dirt bike/dual sport bike.

I'd like to know if there can be any reliable ones had out there for $3000 or less (new or used). I'm look for at least 250cc.

Thanks in advance!

dont listen to this bart guy he doesnt know what hes talking about the drz450 doesnt have a motorcross engine or a fram it has a basic trail frame and shocks if you wanna get somthing to be able to jump get the yamaha wr450 it HAS a motorcross frame and suspension(look at the front forks you can see if has racing forks/suspension.) all it is is a yz450f with a headlight and mirors. if you look at this bart guys profile look at the qeustion he's asked all he does is run down everybody elses bikes, and i bet he doesnt even have a bike just likes to act tough through the keyboard.

The best dirt bike that's just barely street legal (more dirt bike than street bike) is the Suzuki DRZ400S
It has the motocross frame, suspension, and engine
and you can get a bigger, stronger aftermarket rear shock spring to handle your weight.
I used to own a 03 DRZ400S, LOVED that bike, it had a top road speed of 94 mph, I could jump it and ride it the same as full 450 cc motocross bike, also if you dump it its lightweight enough you can pick it up yourself
very dependable, I ran the heck outta it and never had a problem.

note; the 2000 to 2009 is basically the same bike, not many changes, I know there are good used ones for under $3000
