Some friends and I are looking for a good, overnight backpacking trail in or near Southern California for a 3 day 2 night trip this summer.
There will be 7-8 of us. A couple of us are experienced campers, but none of us have ever gone backpacking. That being said, we'd like a 'woodsy', scenic trail, but one that's easy to moderate in difficulty.
Somewhere we could camp near a river or a lake would be great — we definitely DO NOT want to go to the desert.
Also, if anyone can offer some gear or general practice tips, it would be hugely appreciated
