I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a standard V8 (not Hemi). It's rated to tow 6000 pounds and the boat I am going to buy is 4200 lbs with a galvanized trailer (add another 1000 lbs for that).
I've never towed a large load like that. The trailer is a double axle trailer with brakes.
I think I'm ok with basic towing of the boat. I mean . . . it'll be a heavy load, but I'm not towing very far. 1 mile from my house to the launch ramp. I'm mostly concerned because the launching ramp is at the end of a steep hill. Should I be concerned about going up/down this hill? Should I use a low gear when coming up the hill? Any other thoughts?
