I ask because my partners family mostly believes that I am not married to him and that he is living in sin. we married in a civil ceremony with no one else present. Even though I can at times see the funny side because I dont feel any different married than not I still feell that 17 years of working at a relationship stands for something. I have no problem with their believing - I woudl never mock that. Its just their disbelief in me and our love for each other. It really hurts
