Any advice on where to go after double majoring in Political Science and Economics?

I'm still a few semesters away from graduating but I've already decided I'm going to double major. I find political science pretty easy and it seems most people major in it before heading to law school, where I originally wanted to go after college. After I took to some introductory courses in Economics, however, I realized how much I enjoyed it. It's a bit more complicated and challenges me at times. I want to either get my JD. or get a graduate degree in Economics. I know graduate schools like Vanderbilt offer dual degrees such as the Ph.d Program in Law & Economics but what would you suggest? Since it's a new degree and not one that's well known, would you say it's of the same caliber as a Ph.D in just economics? Where could each graduate degree get me?

What do you ultimately want to do?

If you want to be a practicing lawyer, go with the JD only. If you want to be a law professor, go with the JD only, but be sure to go to Yale, Harvard, or Stanford. Or do a PhD/JD from a university that has a T14 law school. If you would like to do economic research professionally, do the Economics PhD.

A JD is a professional degree, while a PhD is a research degree. These are wildly different ends, so you have to decide which route you want to go down.
