I am 23 years old and I have been in and out of the ER and have had more EKG then a monkey can shake a stick at. Here is my detailed list of issues and problem. I sure hope you all can give me the right advice and direction.

It all started when I tried to stop smoking. I started to wear the patch and was not smoking. Well about a week in I started to having this nasty breathing issues. I was trying to catch my breath and I was having slight chest pain, but nothing sever. I then though maybe it was me coming off of the cigs, I knew it was not over me using the patch sense I had used them before. So I broke down and bough another pack of cigs hoping that was the problem. (More of a tester pack to see). Well that sure didn't help me. =(

So now today I have had the following things done;

*EKG (I have had about 20 of these done)

*Chest X-rays (I have had about 10 of these done)

*Seen a MD doctor

*Tried taking medication. (Honestly, I am NOT a medication person, so there for not a whole lot of medication has been tried.)

*Had a treadmill test done. (This is done to monitor your heart rhythm and it can tell them a lot of things about your heart. By the way, NOT a fun test.)

*Halter monitor (I have had three of these to wear. 24 hours, 48 hours, and 14 days. Also, NOT fun.)

*Blood work done. (I have had so much blood drawn and everything has came out to look really good.)

*Seen a cardio doctor.

*I have tried to relax and just sit on the couch to calm down, but sadly it doesn’t seem to help much.

*I have cut out all caffeine possible to cut out and still have issues.

*I have had an upper GI done. (This I have told you about. I produce too much stomach acid)

I am just at a loss as to what it could be. The doctors I have seen (which have been MANY) have said that I have One of three things or all of them;

*Anxiety

*Acid reflux (GERD)

And/or

*Inflammation within the chest walls.

Any advice? Ideas? I have also had my ThyroiRAB check and they are normal. I am also becoming dizzy (passing out like) and also breathing and chest pains. But every time I am at the ER all I hear is the following I have listed. Someone out there please! I beg you, give me some advice and directions.

FAQ;

Do you smoke? Yes

Do you drink? No

Do you use drugs? No

Do you take any medication? Yes, Prevacid 15mg (once a day)

Where you given medication to treat your Anxiety? Yes,

Bupropion Hydrochloride 150mg (I do not take)

Lorazepam .5MG (I only take as needed.)

I was also giving Propranolo 20MG

Also my BP had been high for a while, but never over the top as much. Example of one of mine is like 141/99.

Ive been going through the exact same thing so I just wanted to comment on this post. Ive been to the ER 7 times in the last 2 months and have had pretty much every test you have had. All the doctors say its anxiety and tell me to take anti depressants, anti anxiety medicine and they don't know whats causing my heart squeezing and shortness of breath. I also have autoimmune hypothyroidism and I'm pretty sure that's causing all of my anxiety and weird symptoms I'm having.
I even try relaxing like you said you tried by sitting on the couch taking deep breaths but nothing helps.

I would have a few other things tested If I were you to see if it could be causing the anxiety and heart symptoms.

Get your RBC magnesium tested
Get your blood sugar tested.
Get your thyroid tested, TSH, Free T4, Free T3 and Reverse T3 if they will test it.
Get your iron and ferritin checked.
Maybe have your cortisol level checked.
Maybe get your hormones checked like estrogen and testosterone.
Maybe have your zinc checked.

I'm pretty sure for me my anxiety is because of my thyroid and I'm not getting enough T3 so my body is freaking out and its causing all this stuff. I'm also having horrible headaches and vibrating in my head.
I hope you start feeling better soon and find relief. This is the worst thing to go through but try to stay positive. I don't like taking meRAB either so Ive only tried Ativan a few times for my panic attacks and now I just ride them out.

I have twin 18 year old boys that suffer from depression,anxiety and panic attacks.Two pills that have helped are Pexeva and Coreg. We have been to numerous Doctors and finally found one that would be confident enough to try different medications. They are also on extended Xanax and Gabpentin. They started college this year and have battled this mental illness since 6th grade. One of the twins is still struggling with depression and the Doctor prescribed some kind of Light made by Apollo that is supposed to help with depression.
He has only tried it for a week so we are not sure if it is going to help. Before you run outand buy one wait to hear from me because it cost $ 150 dollars and I am skeptical.

I agree, mine stepped into high gear about a year ago when I tried quitting. I used Chantix and I've never been the same. I have been anxious for a long time, but after trying to quit, mine stepped into high gear.
