Hello,
I have a 14 year old daughter who this winter developed a breathing disorder.
After having a respiratory infection a few months back she has not been able to over come having phlegm and secretions in her throat and lungs.
It appears that this has developed into a psychological caused issue because the illness finished was over 2 months ago.
During this recent respiratory infection she developed anxiety over her ability to keep her airway clear. She had some panic attacks that required emergency room visits and a few days of hospitalization for observation.
Xrays and a swallow study ruled out pneumonia and other causes for her distress.
To complicate this whole matter she has an under lying neuromuscular condition which causes her to have weak muscles and only about 70% normal breathing capacity. We have respiratory equipment at home (suction machine and nebulizer) that she uses when needed.
We have eliminated dairy from her diet to see if this helped
