Hello,
I had my first anxiety attack one month ago. I am a 27 yo female and I have a stressful career and some slight stress in my personal life, but nothing devastating. Well I was just sitting on my couch and boom I felt like I couldnt breathe. My haRAB started trerabling and I was dizzy. I had no idea what was happening so I called 911. After many many test and even a 2nd trip to the ER I have been told that I have panic disorder.
I tried to get over it on my own for a week but it was all I could think about. 8 days ago my Dr. put me on 10mg of prozac and gave me Klonopin .5 mgs in case I have an attack.
The problem is that I constantly stress about putting these pills into my body. I worry if they will give me a heart attack, stroke,or send me into a coma. While, I may not be laying on the floor crying anymore like my first attack this worry follows me everywhere and Im not myself. I cant eat and Im super bummed. No one I know would understand they would just want me to toughen up. I could really use someone going thru this to talk with.

Hi,

Please note that your post has been moved here to the main Anxiety Board.

lag57: Be careful with the Klonopin. It's very addicting. You need to destress yourself. Do some exercising, yoga, have some wine, meditate, calm down.

Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep deprivation can cause problems. Even though you're only 27, see if you can get some progesterone cream and use a little of it at night before you go to bed. Get your adrenal glanRAB checked too. You could have adrenal fatigue. If you're not eating right then your cells aren't getting the nourishment they need and it's affecting your brain. You don't want to end up with blood sugar problems. Get to an endocrinologist and get examined.

@92261 I have been taking a 1/2 of the klonopin everynight for 8 days now. If I do not take it I will be up until 5 or 6 worrying about my health. Do you think I could get addicted off of this low a dose. I plan to wean off the prozac in 3 mos..... Is this a good plan to treat anxiety? I have never had it before and Im just going off what my doctor says.

lag57: I don't know how much to take that makes it addictive. All I know is I was told by one doctor I saw for my epilepsy that he wouldn't prescribe the stuff because of the addictive side effects of it. There's got to be something else to take. You have to go with your gut. It's your body.

Thanks. I think Ill try some research and see if I can find a better solution.
Its great to know that anxiety is so common and that it can be treated. At first I was depressed and thought I was all alone with this problem.
