Antibiotics and Alcohol

Hello,

I've been on the antibiotic Mylan-Minocycline for around 6 months now, in order to treat my mild acne. I take one pill per day. The drug has been doing wonders, I have virtually no acne, and no aversive side-effects.

I'm a 20 year old university student, and a part-time guitarist. I'm constantly at bars playing live or simply hanging out with my peers after a particularly hard day at school. I was wondering if it is safe to drink alcohol in moderation (a beer a day) in addition to regularly taking my antibiotics? My dermatologist has been giving me mixed messages, and I don't know what to believe anymore. I'm going for a blood exam tommorow, but until I get my results, I would like to have some possible answers.

There is a reason that they tell you not to drink alcohol while taking antibiotics. The booze affects the way your drugs are absorbed in your system. Have a Shirley Temple and be grateful that your acne is clearing up.

Besides that, isn't 20 under age for drinking?
