I was skimming the news again and I came across this article...
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/SMobile-Systems-Releases-First-Antivirus/story.aspx?guid={0218D8FF-D5F6-445F-B459-023B210CE3EC}
It basically says... "To help protect these users from the attack and proliferation of mobile viruses, spyware and other malware, SMobile Systems has released its SMobile VirusGuard for phones with Android."
But do we really need it? I go to several web pages but none of them have effected my Android... I don't have pop ups and I have yet to see any weird effects on my Android... I believe Google said before that it's set up system is set up so that A malicious app cannot effect other parts of the phone... so if I only can get Viruses via email or browser or get spyware through the browser... It should not effect the rest of the phone, right?
I could go in and uninstall the browser or email from the app management then redownload via the App market right?
I don't like how "Anti-" type companies play toward peoples fears... sure they are trying to make a buck too like everyone else... but I still think many of them are creating the problem itself... The Iphone has been out for several years and I have yet to hear about a Virus or spyware issues on that platform... and I sell computers so i get Linux customers in and I have yet to hear anyone saying "Damn, virus effected by Linux now I gotta buy a new one... " What do you guys think? Does Android users need to have a Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Firewall, and other crap like that? Do you think Google will continue to fix bugs in their OS like that in the future for free?
