Anthem is a heroic and inspiring story about the triumph of the individual’s independent spirit. Even though, at the end of the novel, Equality is greatly outnumbered, and modern society lies in ruins, it is a story of liberation and hope—not despair. Discuss.

I really don't understand this at all... any pointers would be great.... i have quotes to support anything so plz just any ideas...

thank you so much in advance! =)

Basically, the prompt is asking you to defend why this book is a book of hope and not despair. In the end, Equality is almost completely alone in the world, but he has discovered his individuality, his right to be his own person, and make his own choices. The book celebrates this, that even in a world of chaos, this man is able to discover what has been taken from him, and begin to take it back, and this gives the end of the book a hopeful tone instead of one of despair.
