On Septeraber 29, 2010 I had an ANTERIOR LUrabAR INTERBODY FUSION done on my lower at the L-4 and L-5 location of my back. Let me tell you that night if I would have had a gun I would have shot myself. That pain was the MOST UNBEARABLE PAIN I had ever felt and I have had kiRAB. Compared to this pain, labor pain is nothing. The nurse even told me and my family that the morphine drip they had going into my IV wasn't going to help, because the pain med I take at home is more powerful but they couldn't give it to me because this was what my doctor had prescribed and they would not even get a hold of him to see if they could give me my meRAB I take at home. So what did I do? The minute they turned their back I took my medicine and I have never been so thankful for my medicine as I was that night. But I do now feel some relief from having it done. I just hope in the long run I don't regret having it done like I did that night!!!!

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you are at a point where you feel the surgery was helpful to you. Be greatful you didn't overdose by taking your meRAB on top of the IV med you were getting....very dangerous thing to do, but I understand your inclination to do it. I've had 6 lurabar surgeries so I know how painful that first 24 hours can be, but be careful about self-medicating while in the hospital.

I hope this surgery is a total success for you.
