Ant problem in Garden!?

I have aphids/Greenfly on my Buddleas (steady on now).
They also flit on to my Honeysuckle (Take it easy) and I end up with few flowers, if any, or holes in practically every leaf.

I wanted to get a natural helper, such as hoverflies (which we get a lot of) or ladybirds etc, however, it would seem that ants are patrolling the plants.

As ants defend the greenfly/aphids against predators is there any other way (than jet washing it with pesticide) to get rid of them. I know you can squash them, but there are literally hundreds of them, I will never get them all.

Can anyone give me advice? What did or would you do, to all those keen gardeners out there. I don't know if it's relavant, but it's a small garden.

Watching "The Gardening Guy", he talked about using Dawn and water in a spray bottle. Tried it and it works. I use pots of Dawn and boiling water to kill ant beds. I keep a spray bottle of Dawn and water mixed for bugs, ants, wasps, bees, etc. It doesn't work for me for roaches. The mix is 2 tablespoons Dawn to one bottle (any size) of warm water. The smaller the bottle, the stronger the mix.
