1. why the gass containers with water crack when place inside the freezer?
2. iron is primarily present in soil, why in water clogged soil, its colour is black and brown or red?

1) Water expands to a maximum size at 4 deg C - this will usually crack a glass container unless there is room at the top for expansion - even then it may still crack it if sufficient water around the outside of the inside of the bottle freezes.

2) Iron has formed oxides.

1 At four degrees C water has the maximum density. The volume is minimum. But when ice is formed the volume increases dramatically (that is why Icebergs float) therefore if there is no allowance for the expansion the container will crack. (See milk bottles left outside in winter)

2 Depends on the oxides made (water contains Oxygen) and the combination of the other chemical, present. Wet soil makes a very good electrolyte which favours chemical reactions.
