Do you realize you posted the same question twice?

You could easily look this up online. I lived in Alaska as a child and in the winter it never got bright daylight. It was pitch black dark when I walked home at 3pm as a kid.

Put your search engine to work if you are unsure...but consider that up north winter means loooong nights and summer means looooong days (no pitch black dark). That should give you a hint...verify it with your own research.
