Another question about physics time dilation.?

Ok I understand that something traveling near the speed of light, the time slows down significantly. My question may be kinda complicated so bear with me. Let's pretend there's an object that is supposedly 5 billion light years away, so we can see the light from the event that happened. Since time essentially stops at the speed of light, could it be possible that the light from the object could actually reach earth in only millions or even thousands of years, due to the slow passage of time of the speed of light. Hopefully my question is easy enough to understand, let me know if I need to clarify more
