Dealer is asking $27000 for a 2005 ES330 with 24.4k miles.

Dealer is asking $35000 for a 2005 LS430 with 45k miles.

Both are certified used. Both with the standard features included.

Is the LS worth the extra $8000, or should I just go with the ES?

PS, while I "can" afford payments on either one, I kinda like the idea of a lower payment on the ES. I'm going in to drive them both in a couple of days.

pps. Would a 2008 Toyota Avalon, with 19k miles and priced at $27k, be a worthwhile alternative?

The LS hands down.
The LS is like no other inferior Lexi in the line.
The top of the line LS is the way to go.

The ES is the top trim of the Toyota Camry.

The Avalon is nice. No Lexus LS though. The Avalon is more spacious and you may like it better than the ES330.

Not even close. The LS 430 is by far a car that you will not be disappointed with. I have a 2004 LS 430 and the power and ride is outstanding. This is my second LS 430. I had the 2001 and put 120,000 miles with no problems. I actually had a ES 330 and while it was a good car, it is not close to the LS.

This is just my option. Don't buy the car based on how much more it will cost you. You will have to live with it for many years. After all these years with the LS, I don't regret a single day. Even the mileage is very good for a V8.

Please don't put too much into the "price". You need to look at the car. Once you buy it, the extra $8000 will not make much of a difference. If the price is really your sticking point, I would hangle with the dealer or wait until you have more funds.

I hope this helps you.
