No, not the anime, the old PBS Kids TV show. I love the AoGG Book (guilty pleasure) and I remember really liking this series as a kid. But information on it is practically non-existant. Does anyone else remember this series?

They had an Anne Of Green Gables anime? yes I remember watching it on sundays on PBS along with adventures from the book of virtues. But I don't remember much.

Oh, the Book of Virtues! I loved that series, but I had completely forgotten about it.

It's true what they say; you don't know what you've got til it's gone. And yes, Wikipedia has an entry on an Anne of Green Gables anime that was apparently made some time ago and never reached the states... (or Canada)

I was going to mention that I wouldn't use Wikipedia as a source since it can be wrong more than any other site. However, apparently there was an anime series at one point:

Odd, but interesting nonetheless. I don't think that I ever read the books. I watched some of the movies. I'm not sure when exactly since I think I watched them before my high school freshman English class. I did see a rerun of the PBS cartoon a couple of years ago. I also just saw some of the movies on PBS last Sunday. They were doing it as a pledge drive, but also for the one hundredth year anniversary of the book series. They were even giving away a set of all the books and DVDs for a reward. It was pretty nice, but the down side is that they were a tad too expensive for me. The movies were really good though.

The Anne of Green Gables anime was on a french-canadian channel in the 90s (I don't remember which one, it was either Radio-canada or the kids channel Canal Famille), along with a bunch of Nippon Animation series like The jungle book, Around the world in 80 days and Alice in Wonderland. Nippon Animation did a lot of series based on famous literary works.

Here's there homepage, you can find their whole catalogue on the site.

The anime is an all time classic. I'm just baffled that it didn't get an english video release of any kind in the west. The fact that Hayao Miyazaki worked on it showed that it was a quality production.

But Anne had a big forehead. :p
