Ah a chance to pontificate. Poor Anne, there has yet to be a truly good film about Anne especially in light of the most recent flic to hit the multiplex. Anne was much more than a harlot looking to hook the big fish, she was truly a Protestant who understood the venality of Rome and urged Henry to break not just to facilitate a divorce but because she felt England should be master in its own kingdom. Though not regarded as 'sexy,' the truth about Anne's attraction to Henry was not his physical beauty, still a man's man and not run to fat, but Henry's brain, his intellect. Henry was attracted by Anne's wit & words, and she worked him, cjhallenging his views about God and England's status as a vassal of Rome. I tend to view the brilliance of Elizabeth as a mark of how brilliant Anne was - - - that DNA bit etc. Alas Anne fell afoul of her own tendency to be shrill, having failed to produce a son, suffering a miscarriage at a vulnerable time, Anne literally lost her head. Someday I wish to visit the Tower, perhaps on this day the anniversary day and lay a red rose upon the block in memorance of Anne...
