Ankle injury; will it be fine or should I go to a doctor?

I was ice skating like five days ago and my right ankle twisted underneath me. As I feel I heard it pop.
I had a major limp, but after a few minutes of sitting I got bored and still kept ice skating.
Later that day, I still had that limp and it started to swell and I iced it some.
The next day it was huge and bruised and I still had a big limp.
At this point, I can walk with virtually no limp and the swelling has gone down. It's still swollen, but not nearly as bad.
The big problem now is my whole leg is starting to hurt really badly; especially when I move my ankle in certain ways.
My ankle was injured on the outside and a bit of the inside, but not as much. And when now the whole outside of my leg up a little past my knee is really hurting; especially my knee.
My ankle was starting to feel way better, but now it's starting to really hurt again.
I've iced it a few times.
Should I be worried about it? How long should I wait before I go to a doctor? How much should it hurt before I go to a doctor? What possible injuries could it be? What else could I do to help it other than ice or going to a doctor?
