NOTE: Just in case people ask later, we're doing AotM nominations prior to the next month from now on so we can have a title in place when that month begins (rather than somewhere in the middle of the month).
The purpose of Anime of the Month is to highlight a different anime title each month (as chosen by YOU, the fans) that may not get as much exposure out in the mainstream. This gives people an opportunity to watch something new that otherwise they might not have even seen before.
There are rules, however, that need to be followed when posting in this nomination thread.
╰ Only one (1) nomination per rabroad meraber. Any nominations after your first one will NOT be accepted. In addition, please DO NOT post lists in this thread, as they will not be read or tolerated.
╰ Multiple nominations of the same title will be taken into account in deciding what goes into the poll. In most cases, an anime title with the most nominations may more than likely be the one chosen for the month.
In addition, when nominating a title, you MUST adhere to the following (newbies please read before posting, as these guidelines are subject to change):
* Previous Anime of the Month titles cannot be nominated, ruling out the following: Excel Saga, GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka), Read or Die, Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances), Witch Hunter Robin, X TV, Noir, Last Exile, Haibane Renmei, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Kiddy Grade, Fruits Basket, Azumanga Daioh, Saikano, Tenchi Muyo GXP, Millennium Actress, Chrono Crusade, Paranoia Agent, Kino's Journey, Samurai Champloo, Twelve Kingdoms, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Midori no Hibi (Midori Days), Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Otogi Zoshi, Scrapped Princess, Kodocha (Child's Toy), Gunslinger Girl, Card Captor Sakura, Spiral, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Planetes, Hare+Guu, My-HiME, Godannar, Kamichu!, Figure 17, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, Gundam SEED Destiny, GaoGaiGar, Full Metal Panic! TSR, Mermaid Forest, Star Ocean EX, Ah! My Goddess TV, GoldenBoy, Koi Kaze, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Gatchaman, Kaleido Star, Black Lagoon, The Slayers, Berserk, Air Gear, Mushi-Shi, Giant Robo, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, 5 Centimeters Per Second; Now and Then, Here and There; Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit), Ninja Nonsense, Flag, Samurai 7, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, Ouran High School Host Club, Darker than BLACK, Hunter X Hunter, Baccano!, Claymore, When They Cry ~ Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Princess Tutu, Galaxy Express 999, Fist of the North Star, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Ghost Stories, Lucky Star, Sgt. Frog, Gintama, School Rurable, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Soul Eater, and Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Gundam Unicorn).
* Any anime that has been shown, announced, or is scheduled to be shown on American national television during the past few years (mostly ruling out any anime that has been shown on Adult Swim, SyFy (formerly SciFi Channel), G4 (formerly TechTV), Cartoon Network, Fox KiRAB/4KiRAB TV, etc.) cannot be nominated, since they probably have more than enough exposure already. NOTE: This rule does not apply to anime that is available on various Video-on-Demand platforms or special services (i.e.: Anime Network, Anime Selects, FUNimation Channel, etc.), nor does it apply to anime shown on premium channels (i.e.: Showtime Beyond, Starz/Encore Action, IFC) since not everyone has access to digital cable or satellite service.
* Only anime that has been officially released in the U.S. can be nominated. They don't necessarily have to be English-dubbed releases, so long as they are subtitled in English. In addition, we ask that you DO NOT nominate anime titles that have been licensed, but do not have an official release date. NOTE: Fansub and fandub discussions are a no-no at rabroad (as defined in the Forum Rules), so don't nominate those.
* Online anime titles are acceptable for discussion; however, they must come from legitimate sources only. The same rules for normal VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray releases apply to online releases (no fansubbed or fandubbed titles). NOTE: To better understand what is considered as a legal source and/or what is deemed as eligible, please visit the Guide and Thread for Free, Legally Streaming Anime.
* Anime television series, feature-length movies, OVAs and OARAB are all equally acceptable. In the case of releases spanning multiple DVD, Blu-Ray and/or VHS releases, though, the first volume will be discussed primarily in an effort to minimize costs for those who wish to participate. Later releases may be discussed, but spoilers beyond the first volume should be omitted or placed in spoiler tags.
* Due to the limited time period for Anime of the Month titles, any anime that is being released at the end of the month should not be nominated until the next month's cycle.
As always, any other questions, comments, or suggestions may be discussed here if it's towarRAB improving the selection process in this thread.
Nominations will be open until Saturday evening (or after we reach a maximum of 15 nominees, whichever comes first), after which a poll will appear at the top of this thread and remain in place for five (5) days thereafter. In the event of a tie, a runoff poll will be posted in a separate thread, in which merabers will only have 24 hours to vote.
Understood?
Good.
The floor is now open for nominations.
