I'm a bit late posting this but, in a come from behind victory, Lucky Star has won the right to be called this month's AotM. Here's a brief synopsis of Volume 1, which is available now from Bandai Entertainment.

You may now discuss the series, keeping in mind that any and all potential spoilers be placed in spoiler tags like this:
This is a spoiler
Also, don't forget to rate the series when you're finished.

This show is basically shin-chan for the otaku culture, only with out the swearing, crud humor, and its so sweet, it'll rote your teeth out. I have no Idea how I ever survived watching it!

I liked the show well enough, there were some of the jokes i didn't get (since im not really an otaku) but I still found it enjoyable, even if the chibi art-style did confuse me. I remeraber when I asked my friend "how old are these characters again?" & he's all like "there in High School" & im all like "LIAR!" ahh good times....But im rarabling again.

Overall despite the chibi art-style & the otaku-only jokes Lucky star is an enjoyable series, I give it a 7 out of 10.

Ah yes, Lucky Star. One of the shows which, in some bizarre way which I just can't seem to find any logic in, helped get me into anime in the first place.
I actually don't even know why I like this series, considering how so much of the humor is based around referencing other shows, (In that respect, it's sort of similar to the currently airing Seitokai no Ichizon, which can basically be summed up as "Lucky Star with even more otaku-humor and even less substance"...) most references of which I didn't understand back when I first watched it, being that the only series I'd seen before it were ultra-mainstream shows like Naruto, One Piece and Dragonball.
Still, it's definitely an enjoyable show to watch. My favourite parts are probably any scene with Anizawa Meito in it, the 12th episode, and the OVA.

While I enjoyed what I watched of the show, I never finished, because I simply couldn't answer the question of "Why the hell am I watching this?"

It was funny, but.....what the hell did I watch it for? I don't know if this has been said before, but Lucky Star was An Anime About Nothing.

I watched the first episode a while back and didn't laugh once. But, I've heard the show turns around a bit once a new director was brought on board after episode 4. So I dunno what to think.

Yeah, but there's still a certain fun appeal to it. It's like Azumanga Daioh, albeit arguably less eccentric. I just see it as slice of life with some funny parts mixed in. Probably its biggest strength and weakness is the Kagami/Konata contrast; they're practically from two different worlRAB so there's lots of material to go on there. Kagami gets to be the straight one to Konata's nerdy interests and happy-go-lucky personality.

I wasn't impressed too much with the early episodes and almost gave up on it. Eventually though it really does get quite good. I read that the director was changed after the first four episodes because the producers felt he wasn't quite ready to be a director, so that might explain what I felt was a weak start.

There are still certainly weaknesses, too much of a narrow focus on the four characters or should I say three characters. Yuki gets only slightly more attention. When they finally get out and do things instead of having endless conversations about their lunch it improves.

It also helps being compared to another school comedy I recently watched, the rather abysmal Doki Doki School Hours. Now THAT is a boring show that goes nowhere.
