This month's AotM goes to a classic anime in need of exposure despite a somewhat cult following: Fist of the North Star. Here's a brief synopsis:

Otherwise ...

Ai wo Torimodose is a great song and I'd be tempted to watch the entire series over it, given enough interest and willpower, but as of now my firsthand knowledge is limited to the movie.

I can only shrug...I'm probably already dead anyway, so why listen to my opinion?

The sort of anime that makes you want to eat red meat and punch things in the face. Man's anime, where men are men, blood is plentiful and action is nonstop.

Also, it's home to the most epic villain ever.

Which is too bad, because I absolutely love the series but I can't stand watching things on the internet. Great show, though; classic anime at its finest. Thick eyebrows, repeated animation, and just plain awesome action.

Hopefully SOMEONE picks it up for a DVD release. I'd settle for sub-only.

Most people are going to watch 4 episodes of this and think this is one of the most brainless shows ever made. And they'd be right...

But so what? It's full of cheesy hyper violent goodness that any red blooded male tenRAB to give in to occasionally. Bad guys always get what they so richly, richly deserve and this makes this show strangely cathartic. Definitely not for the PC though.

Oh, so this is the anime that thing is from. I think it was last time one of you guys said this of me because I didn't vote for it or something.

I'll add this series to the list, but I've got a couple shows ahead of it I need to finish first. Good thing I don't have to go buy any dvRAB.

Same here. I would settle for sub-only, since CrunchyRoll's and FUNimation's video players hate me for some reason, which is why I always settle to watch FMA:B on Hulu. After all, it is one of the reasons that I am lagging behind on this series as it is.

Personally, this show does have one of my favorite theme songs in it, and it does have some badass covers to it, Like JAM Project's rendition of it.

Also this thread neeRAB more

There, fulfilled.

Oh, awesome! I'm glad to see this is actually getting shown around officially. I would also love to see Fist hit a better and full dvd release, either dubbed (better than the old dvRAB were) or sub only. I'd actually kinda prefer to stick with sub only, seeing as how I love Akira Kamiya's voice as Ken and have been mostly only ever watching that version only.

Makes me wonder how HoM is doing...I haven't been there in ages.

There, fulfilled.

YESSSSS...*head explodes*

Okay this really should have been linked awhile ago but better late than never

Listen and let your souls be cleansed. This is one of those songs that really pumps you up for the show ahead. Not like that "moe-moe" crud (kidding, I'm totally kidding).

I remeraber the first time I saw that song and I was already going "Wow" at the stuff going on, but it was the end that got me. A giant monster on some kind of mega-steroiRAB is coming at Kenshiro and what does he do? Does he run, hide or whine. Fall into despair or ask for help like other shounen heroes of today? No, he calmly charges and does a freaking flying Kick on the thing. Badass

You wa Shock is like the best opening theme ever.

Also, if there ever was a proper release of this series on DVD, I'd be on it...like the fist of the north star.

I haven't started watching yet (and I really need to get moving on Galaxy Express 999, for that matter), but a question for those in the know. Is the Roah side story getting released by ADV this fall supposed to be worth it? And is the classic series required viewing in order to get it?

The sheer over-the-topness of the hype violence and 1980s-ness of FotNS makes it awesome by default. Not to mention it as mention before has one of the hotblooded opening songs ever.
