You may now discuss the series, keeping in mind that any and all potential spoilers be placed in spoiler tags like this:
This is a spoiler.
Also, don't forget to rate the series when you're finished, unless you want something like this in your gym bag.

You'd be missing out on one minRABcrewy masterpiece of an anime if you passed it up.

Ever heard of violence and an underlying mystery that surpasses Elfen Lied but instead of nudity/fanservice as a fear-driving point, it's moe girls instead? Yeah, bet that got you interested.

Higurashi won! Clap, clap, clap, clap.

Ah, yes, Higurashi, another one of my favourite anime ever, however, not immediately at first:

Back in the forums where I was, around January 2007, some people were talking about it, and I was interested. In other worRAB, word of mouth get me sparked.

But like I said before, not immediately, I saw the first episode, and I did something stupid, seeing the 21st episode immediately after seeing the first episode, for the hell of it.

Seeing Mion killing Satoko was just very bad, and got me a bit mad, because I don't like seeing kiRAB dying.

I didn't like it, and for a few months, avoided it, but months later, I decided to give the series another try after realizing it's true story, and liked it better, but pace was really the best thing, and gave some second-guessing, which made it even more fun, it's like a Saw movie ending.

And then...season 2 came, and holy crap, it was even more awesome, you'll see a lot of plot, and doesn't even get boring, it's just that great, yet people are disappointed for lack of violence in it, even I like violence, and I liked this season more than the first.

To think a third season would be made--oh wait, it's an OVA, I just hate the fact that it's an 5-episode-OVA, and not a third season (sigh), but I'm not gonna say anything else.

So yeah, I like this series, and it deserves winning AOTM.

Oh, I think I forgot something, oh yeah:

Ni-pah!

I love this anime to death right now. It's confusing, but a good kind of confusing... like it makes me want to watch more instead of give up on it entirely.

The characters are pretty loveable too.

Sweet! Its about time Higurashi won AotM. Its a great series. And now that it won, I just remerabered that I've really got to start the 2nd season, as soon as possible. I absolutely loved season 1, except for the 2nd story, which felt like a bit of a drag to me.

Overall, though, its highly unique, and a highly entertaining anime.

One of the absolute best anime of recent times. The first arc alone was enough for me to say that, but the whole series... It definitely makes my top ten list of best anime.

Welcome to The Anime Forum.

To answer your question, When They Cry is not coming to Cartoon Network. There's currently no indication that this series will air on television anytime soon, but thanks for asking.

This is the only anime that's genuinely freaked me out. It's violence and horror are amazingly unsettling. Considering it had no budget, it's quite impressive in that achievement.

One of my personal favorites. Generally creepy overall, with the first season containing a gripping set of story arcs and the second shedding light on various mysteries of the first and still makes itself an entirely fresh and investing experience. If you're looking for a good mystery series, check this out.

This reminRAB me, I need to finish Kai and catch Rei's first OVA special sometime soon.

Indeed.

I think Elfen Lied is technically more brutal in its gore and shows more detail in it, but Higurashi's brutality lies within getting under your skin and forcing you to grind your teeth. One of the most intense scenes has to be the nail ripping scene, just the way that Shion screams in the Japanese version is so tortured, you really can tell she's in pain.
