...What the FUCK happened to it?

(anyone who makes a Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged reference fails... in America)

Newtype USA ceased publication with no warning, ADV somehow managed to fumble Gurren Lagann and a good handful of their other titles disappeared for a bit... It seemed to resolve itself though. Bandai saved Gurren Lagann, ADV seemed to get back on track, and(after some raging and getting a refund for my remaining subscription) I accepted Newtype was gone. (Also, Bandai starts selling defective discs, filled with skips and freezes resulting in massive returns)

Fast-foward a bit and more odd shit starts happening. [adult swim]'s anti-anime antics go a step further, removing anime from weeknights entirely(leaving nothing but dreadful Inuyasha reruns at 5:00AM)... I never really watched [as] on weeknights anyway, so I shrugged it off.

Finally, two weeks ago, [adult swim] reaches a new level of douchebaggery by decimating it's Saturday lineup. Tossing in reruns of shit programming like Assy McGee, Tim & Eric, and 12oz. Mouse, rerunning the now old Fullmetal Alchemist, and perhaps worst of all, moving it's two newest anime, Code Geass and Morbito(the latter of which had only aired 3 episodes) to an unwatchable 5:00AM timeslot. Get the ratings up by airing reruns of some of your lowest rated Comedy programs... Yeah. Genius.

If you're like me, Toonami was likely a major part of your childhood. I would rush home from school every day, throw my backpack halfway across the room (first watch Beast Wars) and watch the full 2 hours of Toonami. It's pretty much what got me hooked on anime in the first place...

And here I was under the impression that the Toonami block was responsible for a good portion of Cartoon Network's ratings(they air Naruto after all), even though most of their current shows suck ass(again, they air Naruto after all).

The logical explanation for all this, is simply that the Cartoon Network execs are on fucking crack, but still this recent string of anime disasters is very discouraging...

I know all of this can be solved by just downloading anime like everyone else does, which I already do, but if you genuinely enjoy a series you downloaded for free, I think the least you can do is buy the DVD's when they're released in English(even if you’re weeaboo, they come with duel audio and subs) or at least watch them if they air on TV to show your support for the series, rather than being a subfag.

For all the people who don't know/don't care what I'm babbling about, you may ignore me.

...I just miss the 90's... That's what this is really all about...

agreed. Geneon and ADV tried to merge but it ended up in them shutting down business completely, ADV and Geneon's shut down is what initially caused the downfall of anime dvd's released in America. They produced a good chunk of anime that has been released on Adult Swim already. Bandai is slow moving but still releases some good stuff and Funimation still produces their work as well even though their Voice Actors even though ever faithful to the business is beginning to get old. I miss the old days too. Manga is still very popular atleast, but because of the downfall in DVD sales and Cartoon Networks sudden ANTI ANIME streak has caused a break in the popularity and they are total douchebags for it. Atleast i still have my manga haha. Oh yeah and i was always pissed about the Code Geass and Moribito time slot change, It is impossible for me to watch it that late and i don't have a tivo some people have to work on sunday mornings. AS are a bunch of assholes.

But you know that stuff only works on guys names Steve. And girls named Steve.

The bigger problem is that networks look at raw numbers, so they think if a show like Naruto works, than a show like Ninjas in Training will work as well. (It won't, but they aren;t going to do the research on that)

Then, they decide to just flood the market to the point where people give up. The other problem is that there are a lot of really good shows that get ignored and it is only through luck or chance that the general public discovers it.

Because of this scattershot approach, they get frustrated that YOU aren;t watching it and you get frustrated because the shows you were wqatching have been moved or junked and whatever is taking its place is squid poop, so you will pop in your "Mahoromatic" DVD and watch something you'll enjoy
