Angels & Demons - Verdict?

Angels & Demons.

I haven't read the book, so I haven't a clue what its about.

Is the book/story any good? And what is is about? Does it refer to its own title or is it something totally different?

Agree about the score, altogether the best thing about the film. Composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more), I'm considering buying it.

Disagree that it was too violent though, and didn't find it disturbing - just absurd.

I don't really remember much about it now, but it was very similar to The Da Vinci Code. Readable, but evidently forgettable.

As for the film, people are generally saying it's better than the Da Vinci Code film, but still rubbish. Well, I thought Da Vinci was alright....

Yeah, I found it neither disturbing nor violent.

But the score was epic. Not sure it would sound brilliant just playing in the kitchen by itself, but certainly sounded amazing in the cinema.

I've not seen the film, but the book was probably the most ridiculous think I ever read, the story was absorbing enough for 2/3 maybe, though very poorly written and very similar style to DVC, BUT it is without doubt THE worst most ridiculous ending I have ever come across.
Don't know what movie is like?

on the strength of da vinci code i shall see star treak agian than this.... can someone put into spolier for me what the twist ending is properly I dont under stand by what has been posted up... TA

and furst time in ages just dont fancy this film and maybe give hannah montana a shot:o

I thought Angels & Demons was far better than The Da Vinci Code which was tedium personifed.

It rattled along briskly & was unashamed hokum & all the better for it.

I thought the ending of Angels And Demons was no more far fetched than the end of the Da Vinici Code.
Personally I thought the conspiracy theories as they are revealed in the books does seem hard to convey on screen.
The bit in Da Vinci Code where the old English guy is talking about Jesus's girlfriend and the last supper painting was interesting in the book and came across as a boring lecture in the film.

I mean the end of Angels and Demons with the helicopter went up into the air, it completely defied Physics. DVC ending was lame, I just thought A&D was worse, both were disapointing though, not worth splitting hairs over :)

Angels and Deamons in my opnion is a slightly better book the the da vinc code. Same lead caracter. I hope they make films of his other 2 books much better than these 2 any way

Yep it's a brilliant score, listened to it last night, going to buy it to go with the first film score. Nice to see a different version of the main score piece from the original(forgotten the track name but it's the bit at the end where Langdon walks the route through Paris), but with added Organs and so on.

I prefered Da Vinci Code in books, but Angels and Demons is more or less the same but more action packed, so will make the better film for those who can't concentrate on mostly a talking film. :p

Not blown away by the books, to me the Da Vinci Code film was superior to the book but not in my favourites, bought the extended edition as a blind buy when it first came out and happy to keep it on dvd, the rest of my family absolutely loves the film.

As for Angels and Demons film, yet to see, yet to see. Looks fun though.

The cinema was far too loud.
Some idiot kept fidgeting with her phone.
The film was pretty with scenes of Rome.
The film could have been shorter.

if you dont take is seriously like some people in here then you will enjoy it and take it for what it is.

i enjoyed it but it was nothing special.

The books are awful, easy reading for the masses but awful

The film, likewise. Mass entertainment with little plot, zero character development and a severely miscast McGregor and may I say, Hanks looking bored throughout yet another film

I went in brain switched off for a bit of fun...

I hated it

National Treasure 2 had more depth than this...

I've just started reading the book this week - I always prefer to read the book before seeing the film.

Would be interested to hear how it compares from anyone that read the book and see's the film :)

I wouldn't have described it as "disturbing", but i did feel that it was a bit strong for a 12A, probably more suited to the 15 rating to be honest. There were numerous heaRABhots which were clearly visible, and the whole priest slowly burning alive was a bit too graphic for the 12 rating in my opinion.

It's not like anyone under 15 would be particularly interested in this film anyway is it? The subject matter alone would most likely put them off...
