I got a spare battery from eBay for my desire, it came with a charger for it that has a USB port on it, I've been using that to charge my phone while the spare battery is in the charger too. When it's in there the screen stops working but it charges, once unplugged the phone works fine.
Plugged the wife's X10 mini pro into it over night last night, woke up this morning to find out the language had changed, she had text 40 people twice with a URL and the letters GM (text home phones and mobiles at 2:30AM), phoned 8 people, deleted contacts, added diary entried, visited hotel.com and downloaded an app which it installed, searched the web for a few different things and probably other things we've not found yet.
Turns out this happens with touchscreen phones when they get a voltage too high for the phone. The charger is 5.2v, the phone needs 5.0v so not a great difference.
We plugged it in when we got home, have a watch of this, it goes mad without being touched
