Android on iPhone 2G: Does it Allow any Carrier?

Hi I'm wanting to install Android on my iPhone 2G, but I use an unlocked iPhone. So I was wondering if by installing the Android OS I will still be able to use the "phone" part. Now, I know that I will be able to dual-boot; I'm no nube, but I think it would be cool to USE Android on the iPhone.
