Android 2.1 Email Question

Hi,

Hey where is the sticky for "Official Android 2.1 Questions"? LOL

Anyway, I am brand new to Adroid and have only been using it for about a week. I made the switch because of the HTC EVO coming on June 4th, and wanted to get my feet wet before I get it, so I picked up a Hero and have been using it with the 1.5 version. However I just updated last night to the official 2.1 release and am having trouble getting my POP3 email account to automatically receive email. The only time it gets mail is when I open the email app and let it sit for a couple seconds. This used to work great on 1.5 and I have tried to set everything just like it was then, but I know that the settings configuration UI has been updated and things look different and things have been added. So yes in the email account settings under "Send & Recieve" I have the account set to update every 10 minutes, and under "Notification settings" I have all three options checked for "on". And under general settings for "Mobile Network settings" I have "Enable always-on mobile data" (don't really know if this is necessary, what it does or if I should have it on or not) checked for "on". Under "Accounts and sync" settings I have "Background data" checked for "on" and "Auto-sync" checked "on" (again this is a new setting and I am not sure what it does or if I need it). I am also using the "Advance task killer" as I was on version 1.5 and frequently have it kill all tasks running. I don't know if this is effecting things or not, it didn't used to in 1.5 as I would still always get my email automatically throughout the day. Do I now need to leave "Mail" running all the time to make this work? Or what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

I have the same problem on my mytouch3g.. I have to restart, and then it sometimes works for a bit, but always stops working eventually (usually after a few days).. Keeping Mail open doesn't help any. In fact, this is the reason I just came on the site, to figure out what on earth is giong on and if anyone's figured out a fix for this.. Maybe it'll be fixed with 2.2? Hopefully?

Have exactly this same problem on HTC Desire, very frustrating see only gmail is sync properly but NOT pop3 account...... Hope 2.2 Will solve this "bug".
