Android 1.5-1.6 update

I just recently update my firmware from the factory 1.5 to 1.6. I now have an "unlock" screen when I boot up. The only way that I now to get past it is to hit the "dismiss" button. When the OS boots up it says I have "no service". I've been to the Bell world and they says there's nothing wrong with my SIM card. I phoned Samsung and they said to send the phone in.

I'd like to just put back my old 1.5 firmware and move on.

Any suggestions?
 
For starters what phone do you have? Android 1.5/1.6 is over a year out of date, there aren't many phones still running it.
