So... This Census worker wasn't a rapist, robber or murderer. But I guess you are right, she should have slashed her tires and then followed her home and busted out her windows with a brick. Psycho.
 
as far as I'm concerned, the census workers are responsible, as are the police. An old lady who wants to be left alone.. leave her alone. don't push the issue and end up shooting her.
 
The census worker did not force the lady to draw on the police and refuse to put the gun down. As far as where the responsibility for her death falls, it falls entirely at the dead woman's feet.

Don't want census workers to come to your house? Fill out the form they mailed you.

Don't want the police to come to your house? Don't threaten government employees who are lawfully fulfilling their duties by requesting you to answer the census which you are required by law to answer.

Don't want to be shot dead? Don't point guns at cops and refuse to put them away when they are lawfully fulfilling their duties.

This isn't that complicated. And stalking the Census worker and vandalizing her property is not a rational response to them asking you to fill out the census. Psycho.
 
no. the proper response was de-escalation. the police at least should have had the sense to back off and leave the lady alone. hopefully this woman's son has the good sense to bust a few windows
 
Yeah, the proper response is de-escalation so having good sense means that when the son is released he goes over to either the cop's house or the census worker's house and busts out their windows.
