Anchorman

this has just started on BBC1 and i have tried (for the 2nd time) to watch it, but i just cant get into it,

does anyone else feel like this or is it me as everyone i know that has seen it, loves it!

I love it!

Only saw the first fifteen minutes tonight (seen it twice before) so I don't know how they cut it.

I turned over to watch There's Something About Mary because I'd never seen it. Yeah, pretty good, but I have to say - Anchorman is better!

It's the second time I've seen it all the way through, and whilst it does raise the occasional smile, I never felt it was a particularly great film.

It's definitely one of those films that grows on you the more you see it, but I don't think it'll ever be my favourite.

I don't know how/if the BBC cut it 'cause I've only ever seen the 'unrated and extended' version on DVD, and therefore never seen the theatrical release.

I was only dipping in and out as I have seen it a few times, but I saw the bit where Burgandy is crying in the phonebooth and Veronica's solo newscast, and both seemed to have bits edited out.

The most annoying thing about watching anyfilm on TV (not just BBC) is that the cuts are often not even for unacceptable content, they are just random cuts made for time, but if you've seen the film before it's immensely irritating

The first time i watched Anchorma, i also didn't "get it".

But now i've seen it about 15 times and i laugh more everytime. It is one of my favourite comedies. Once you get the humour - you will be laughing for ages :p

A lot of my frienRAB absolutely love this movie and say it's one of the best out there for comedy... it has moments but don't see it as some great comedy... I prefer Blades of Glory to this.

I watched Anchorman and Blades of Glory on consecutive days and thought Blades was the better film, and although it's possible to over-analyse why that is, in the end I think it simply told a better story.

I've just done a search for anchorman and found this as the last thread discussing the film - it is my all time fave. That scene where he's trapped in a glass case of emotion (phone booth) is a comedy classic!

Definitely will ferrell's funniest film. The DVD outtakes and extras alone make it a worthy DVD to have in your collection.

But I was wetting myself when I heard they were bringing out another spec edition including outtakes that never even made it onto the DVD - all mashed together to make it look like a lost DVD. Sheer hilarity!

There's a clip of it here. Anchorman megafans fans will appreciate this the most! >

It's not outtakes, it's just storylines and extra scenes that were cut from the original movie.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

I didn't like it the first time I saw it either. It was an impromptu second viewing where it kind of just sank in, and I was rolling about. "I don't know why we're SHOUTING!!!" - "LOUD NOISES"! :D Carrell is class in this. I love his "mentally retarded" monologue early on.

Love the bit in the phone booth after Jack Black's kicked Ron's dog Baxter off the bridge! :D

The "new" extra DVD was released in Region 1 (US) about 2 or 3 years ago as I bought it then. However for some reason it has only just been released over here now!

Has anybody seen the new Anchorman 'The Lost Movie'. I just bought it on DVD, it has some very funny moments but other parts you can kind of see why they were cut out. The Champ and Ron scene in the car had me on the floor.

For all you Ferrell fans, check out 'Stepbrothers' out tomorrow. It's a corker!!!
