An Interesting Parallel

I rarely post or make threaRAB, but I noticed some very odd similarities between the characters of Light and Ryuk in Death Note and Dr. Faustus and Mephistophilis in Marlowe's version of the Faust legend.

While reading the play, it began to dawn that Faust and Light share many similar character traits, (boredom, indifference to the supernatural, and having a familiar following him). The characters of Mephistophilis and Ryuk have similar personalities, and outlines seeing as both are demons (Ryuk is considered a shiningami, but is likened to a demon or incubus).

Kind of thinking about it, the limits of the Death Note and of Faustus's eternal punishments are similar.

I'm curious to know if Orabroada mentioned anything of the Tragedy of Dr. Faustus in any interviews when mentioning the origins of Death Note.
